Cabin Word Wood Craft

Since we are in quarentine along with everyone else, I have been working on various projects from cards, to wood crafts, to home decor.  I have also been joining some challenges again as it has been awhile since life was so busy.  It feels good to be creative again.  Here is a cute craft that I finished for our family cabin.  It's just been hanging around.

Interchangeable Truck Banner

I LOVE how this turned out.  I made this interchangeable truck banner.  The pumpkins can be removed and a tree, shamrock, heart, Easter eggs etc. can be put into it.  That way it can be used year round if I want.  I can even add a cake or presents for everyone's birthdays.  Super cute and fun.  I did however, remove 2 of the trucks.  I thought it looked a little congested where it was hanging so I used 3 trucks instead of the 5 I originally started with but I didn't retake the photo.  Either way, I think you get the idea.  Now I have a couple extra trucks to put on a scrapbook page.  So much fun or maybe I will make one more and make one for a friend.  Either way, I love how it turned out.  Hope you do too.  Have a great day!  I am sharing it with the challenges below:

Candy Boquette

My daughter is having a special birthday this year and I wanted to do some different fun things for her.  I saw these "pop" bouquets last year but had no occasion for them.  This year I decided this would be a fun and cute item to make for her and have it delivered to her at school.  After I completed the bouquet, I had found a post where she had made these cute bows out of newspaper.  Well, I thought that it would be cute out of some of the leftover paper I had from other projects for my daughter's birthday so... this cute bow became the topper to my bouquet.  I think it adds a nice touch!  She's going to love it!

Mine Craft Birthday Cake

My son loves Mine Craft like all kids his age so I tried to find a birthday cake that was Mine Craft.  Well, no one does one.  That won't work so here's my version of a Mine Craft birthday cake my way.  LOL.  He loved it and my Mom liked it so much she asked me to make some for my niece's son too.  Both boys were happy with their cake and so was this Momma. (I should have taken the picture with out the knives in the background so you could see the "layers" of mincraft items but.....)  Anyway, you get the gist anyway!

Diaper Cake - It's a Boy

I made this diaper cake for my nephew and his wife.  His wife loves frogs so I figured what better figures than frogs and turtles to put on it.  I loved these little turtles and I even got to use my Peachy Keen face stamps on them.  I think it turned out cute.  Who knew that diaper cakes would be such fun.  Makes me kinda sad they didn't exist when my kids were babies!  Guess, I'll just have to make them for others!

Love is all you need decor

After making a couple of Valentine's Day home decor items, I looked around and found an old frame that wasn't being used either so I decided to put something Valentine's related in it.  I think it's cute.  I think that I'll probably paint the frame red at some point, but for now it's ok.  It says "Love is all you  need."

Adore Valentine's Day Plate

Well, after I got done making my little love squares, I started looking around for something else that I can make into some Valentine's Day decor and came up with a black plate that I had originally bought to do as a wedding gift but hadn't gotten around to it.  It's been sitting in my "stash" FOREVER!  LOL.  Anyway, one of the challenges was to use my oldest bling so I decided to use the plate as I've had it forever and it's so shiny it has to qualify for bling!  :-)  I absolutely LOVE how this turned out and it is my FAVORITE Valentine project.  It looks so cute behind my love blocks.  All in all, not a bad day for decorating and using a bunch of old items.   Even the vinyl I've had for several years at least 3 or 4!  LOL.  Have I mentioned that I hoard scrapbook supplies?  Actually I shouldn't say I hoard them, but when I get a really good deal on something I tend to buy a LOT so I have all this surplus of inexpensive sweetness to choose from and I'm so grateful because it can make cute and inexpensive projects-when I get around to using it!  LOL.  The plate I think was a dollar store find and I used leftover vinyl from another project so this cost at the most $1.25!  SCORE one for me!  :-)

Love Blocks

Today while I was making Valentine's Gifts, it made me think about my home decor for Valentine's Day which is really lacking.   Last year I made a "Bee Mine" banner that turned out really cut, but that's about it.  So I had these little blocks sitting on my craft table from a saying that used to be in my kitchen that I almost threw away and it made me think that I should do something with them OR throw them away.  So....I revamped them to make this cute little Valentine's Day decor.  I like how it turned out... not bad for some garbage and some paper scraps.

Nuts About You Gifts

This year I decided to do 12 days of Christmas for my husband.  I've never done that before and thought it would be fun to let him know how special he is to me.  After 20+ years, I think it's a nice way to do something special just for him.  As part of my 12 days of Christmas, I have a can of cashews for him.  So I decided to make these little squirrels and put them on the can.  I liked it so much, I did a second can that I'm giving away as a gift.  Isn't this a fun way to "wrap" a round gift!   On the can it also says, "Nuts About You!"  What a perfect sentiment on them!  Anyway, just a fun idea.   I think I like how the top one turned out better than at the bottom one but..... think they are both fun gifts and a cute way to wrap the can.

Gifts for Jesus Nativity

This year wanting to bring Christ more fully into our home this holiday season, I cut these nativity pieces and asked my kids to put up a piece every time they served someone. These acts of service were called "Gifts for Jesus." The idea was to get the nativity done before Christmas so that we can put the baby Jesus in the nativity Christmas Eve when we read the Christmas story. The kids have done so well, I had to cut a ton more stars (not even shown in this picture) for them to put up. I'm loving this and will have to do it again next year.

Halloween Banner

I was in the mood to make something today and so I decided to make my first ever banner! At first I really didn't have any idea what to do with it, but then I pulled out a bunch of left over halloween cuts and cut a few more to go with it and voila. I LOVE how it turned out! It's the perfect touch to go on my web covered hutch in my living room. I'm entering it into these challenge:

Cabin Light Fixtures

How fun. I LOVE a good deal. I found some outdoor lanterns that I liked and wanted to put them outside our family cabin, however, at $76.00 a piece, I didn't like that. The other day I was in at Lowe's and they had some of their lighting on clearance. They had the style of light I wanted, but it was in a funny silver finish instead of black....Well, on clearance for $21.00 for two, I brought them home anyway. A little black spraypaint with some silver flects in it left over from who knows what and a little outdoor vinyl and voila.....two metal outdoor lanterns for $21.00. Gotta love that! I love how they turned out plus I love how easy it was to add the outdoor vinyl to the glass.  Yeah....custom look for a fraction of the cost.  I love a good savings and can't wait for my hubby to see the final product.  I think he'll be impressed.  :-)  Do you like them?

I decided to enter in into these challenges

Chair redo

Want to see my latest project? LOL. I needed some new chairs for our family cabin as the ones we had were metal, old, and squeeky and drove my husband nuts. Well, not wanting to spend a fortune, I found a different old table and chair set that I bought off of our local want ads for only $60.00 and decided to give my hand a try at refinishing some furniture. The set has 6 chairs and a table but I just started with the one that was in the worst condition. I forgot to get a picture, but the back of this chair originally had wicker in it which was all busted out and hanging in pieces. I took it down to my father-in-law and asked him if it were possible to do something with it. We removed the wicker and he added these slats! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them so much better now. Now I'm trying to decide if it's worth the effort to rip the other 5 chairs apart and add the slats too! LOL. I don't know what kind of wood these chairs are, but they are really dense wood and he had a heck of a time drilling through the side of the chair to countersink the screws for the slats. Now we are talking about a man who has an entire woodshop and playing with wood is a hobby and side business he's been in for many years so that fact that he had trouble drilling the counterholes made me wonder if it was worth it for the other 5 chairs. However, I love it! I wasn't crazy about the medallion on the top of the chairs either and so a little wood filler took care of that. Anyway, here is almost the finished project. I haven't attached the seat or the fabric yet and I still have to add the bears to the top of the chair where the medallion was, but this is a pretty good idea of what they will look like. I love the distressed look that I got by sanding these chairs after I had primed and painted them and I then added some stain over the top of the paint to give it a distressed aged look since I didn't have any glaze. I really like how they turned out and can't wait until I'm done with this one and the rest of them. What do you think?

Faith makes things possible tile

I saw this saying on a sign in a store and loved it. Unfortunately, the colors on the sign didn't go well with my decor so.... I recreated it to place it on a tile. Then I decided I needed a birthday gift for my friend and that I should give it to her so I sat it upstairs to give to my friend and my mom came over and loved it and wanted to know if I'd make one for her. So I sent this one home with my mom and now I need to make another one for my friend and probably one for me too. I really like how the dragonflies and the butterfly turned out on this project. Super fun, easy, cute with a good message to boot! Love that!

Boy Birthday Cake

My son's favorite cake is zuchini cake without nuts. Well, it's also one of his Dad's favorite cakes but with nuts so here is the solution. One birthday cake with half nuts and half not! LOL. We had an impromptu birthday party for my son because what he wanted to do was an outdoor activity and the weather wasn't cooperating so at the last minute, we invited a couple of friends to come over for a late over to include pizza and a movie. So, if friends were coming over, we had to have cake and ice cream so I needed some decorations for his cake. Most people would pop over to the store, but we live just outside of town and a trip to the store is at least a 40 minute trip so.... what's a girl to do? I happened to have these little monsters left over from his Valentines gifts so I just cut a Happy Birthday sign and voila....one boy birthday cake decorated in his favorite color....green..... He loved it and wanted to add a couple of his lego people too so there you go. Cricut to the rescue for one cute last minute cake....no cricut cake machine needed! LOL.

Picture Frames

Aren't these fun. I decided to make one of these for our nieces husband. They have been trying to have a baby for several years and were finally blessed with the most adorable little girl. Anyway, Daddy's need gifts at baby showers too! LOL. So, I found these really nice frames that I liked and bought them. Then I added "Daddy's Girls" to the top one to give to my nieces husband to remember his "girls" while he's at work. When I showed it to my husband, he loved it and said he needed a new one for him as the only pictures he had at work were really old ones of me and the kids. Well, we can't have Dad with old pictures of the kids so.....I made him one too. His says "My Best Gifts" on it. He loved it and happily took it to work to replace the old pictures that he had. You know a project is a success when your husband wants one too! LOL.
