Cabin Light Fixtures

How fun. I LOVE a good deal. I found some outdoor lanterns that I liked and wanted to put them outside our family cabin, however, at $76.00 a piece, I didn't like that. The other day I was in at Lowe's and they had some of their lighting on clearance. They had the style of light I wanted, but it was in a funny silver finish instead of black....Well, on clearance for $21.00 for two, I brought them home anyway. A little black spraypaint with some silver flects in it left over from who knows what and a little outdoor vinyl and voila.....two metal outdoor lanterns for $21.00. Gotta love that! I love how they turned out plus I love how easy it was to add the outdoor vinyl to the glass.  Yeah....custom look for a fraction of the cost.  I love a good savings and can't wait for my hubby to see the final product.  I think he'll be impressed.  :-)  Do you like them?

I decided to enter in into these challenges

Wedding Glasses

Well this time I couldn't find a plate that I liked for this wedding gift, so I decided to do etching on colored glasses. I just put their initials and their wedding date on them. I like how the etching turned out on the colored glass. :-) Pretty, don't you think?

Wedding plate and pans

Posted by Picasa

Our friend's daughter is getting married this weekend so I decided to do a set of glass pans with her name on it and also a plate with their initials. The thing I love about this type of gift is that she is guaranteed not to get another one just like it! LOL. I hope she likes it.

Glass Etching Pans

See what I made my mom for Christmas! I think they turned out great. I actually did a full set of pans all with different fonts and flowers. I hope she will like them. Just in case she peeks, I won't actually show this post until after Christmas. She wanted some so that when she went to different functions her pans didn't walk away....you know....we've all lost a couple after helping with funerals or whatever. This way, they should find their way back home! LOL. If you haven't tried glass etching, you should. I do have to say though that this project took way to long. I used some of my outdoor vinyl that I had gotten from the sign company and boy was that a mistake. It cut great, went on great, etched great, but it DIDN'T come off great! It took me about an hour to SCRAPE this vinyl off after using the etching cream. Needless to say, I won't make that mistake again. I just figured since I had a lot of it that I would use it for this but.....NOPE. NEVER again so just for your info. If you are using vinyl for etching, make sure it's repositionable and not outdoor 5 year vinyl! LOL....Having done glass etching before, I KNOW that it is a lot easier than this project turned out to be! Lesson learned.....!

Wedding Plate

Today I finally finished my last two wedding plates. It seemed that most people liked the ones with the name and date better than the temple with the date so I did the last two this way. I think they turned out nice. It's been so busy around here that I'm just greatful to have them done! I finally also got the last two delivered so now I have these two to deliver and I'm really done! Woo hoo! LOL.

Temple wedding plate...

After doing the Mr. and Mrs. plate, I realized that I had several more weddings coming up so I found a picture of the Idaho Falls temple and converted it into an SVG file that I could cut on my cricut. By doing this, I was able to make a template to glass etch the temple and the couples wedding date on the plate. I like this one too. I picked up a couple more plates at the store just for this purpose. Aren't they pretty! These are good quality, heavy glass plates with silver edging. They are much prettier in person than in the pictures, I love them. The store that I purchased them from is almost out and I don't know if they will get anymore. I probably should go get a few more, but they are a little pricey so I only pick up a couple at a time. :-)

Mr. and Mrs. Wedding Plate

Hi. We've been having a busy, busy summer so I haven't been up to much, but I did want to post this plate that I made for a couple who are getting married this weekend. This was my first attempt at glass etching. I think it turned out really nice. I hope they like it! Have I mentioned that I love my cricut and SCAL? LOL....
